James Ward-Prowse medical scheduled for today as West Ham United set to complete £30m deal
James Ward-Prowse is set to undergo his West Ham medical today after a £30m deal was agreed with Southampton, according to Mike McGrath.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (10 August), The Telegraph journalist reports that medical checks are scheduled to take place today.
Ward-Prowse isn’t expected to be available to face Fulham on the opening day of the season, but a £30m deal is agreed for him to be part of the squad for the rest of the campaign.
“West Ham have scheduled a medical for James Ward-Prowse for later today, with the Southampton captain set to join in a £30m deal,” he wrote.
Perfect
It’s been a long road to get this point but West Ham have finally pulled the trigger on spending the Declan Rice money and they’ve got two top central midfielders in to replace him.
The club have already completed the deal to bring in Edson Alvarez from Ajax, and Ward-Prowse will now bring in Premier League experience and quality on set-pieces as well as leadership having been the skipper at St Mary’s in recent years.

That’s a big thing for the club after we lost Rice and Craig Dawson in the last two windows, while Aaron Cresswell and Michail Antonio also want to go and Lucas Paqueta’s future is up in the air.
At £30m it represents good value for a player in his prime years who wanted to join, and now we can look forward to seeing what he can bring to this side for the upcoming season as we push in Europe and battle to avoid a relegation battle.
