Jack Clarke stance emerges amid January transfer interest from West Ham United

Jack Clarke’s stance on leaving Sunderland in January is thought to be unchanged from the summer amid interest from West Ham as he is in no rush to leave, according to the Sunderland Echo.

The newspaper reported via their website on 10 January that Clarke informed the club in the summer window that he would not push for a move, but would discuss a move away if the deal suited all parties.

He is therefore unlikely to push for a move in January, but he could be tempted by a huge bid from an established Premier League club with Crystal Palace also linked.

Clarke could be tempted

While a “huge” bid from the Hammers seems unlikely as things stand, their reported desperation to seal a new attacking signing in the January transfer window could force their hand in an attempt to bring the winger to the London Stadium.

Their competitor Crystal Palace would also be considered unlikely to go in with a huge bid for Clarke’s services in January, pointing towards the most likely outcome of him remaining in Sunderland, at least until the summer.

Reports emerging about ongoing situations at West Ham do, however, point towards a desire to get a deal of this nature done. Said Benrahma will only be allowed to leave if they bring in a replacement, while injuries to Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta mean David Moyes wants new options.

Clarke is one of several players linked with a move to East London, with his 12 goals and two assists in 26 Championship games so far this season making him a standout wide option for West Ham.

In other West Ham news, Lucas Paqueta has reassured fans about his injury status.
