Image shows Taty Castellanos at airport ahead of flight to London to sign for West Ham

Taty Castellanos looks to be edging closer to his move from Lazio to West Ham.

West Ham have agreed a £25.3million deal to bring Castellanos to the London Stadium, and he looks set to be their second addition of the winter window.

Castellanos is scheduled to undergo a medical with West Ham, with a long-term contract on the horizon for the 27-year-old.

The Hammers needed a striker, and the deal is edging closer after a new image showed Castellanos at the airport.

Castellanos spotted as West Ham transfer edges closer

Castellanos has already said his goodbyes to his teammates in Italy, and it seems to be a matter of time before he is confirmed as an Irons player.

A report from All Round Lazio on 2 December showed Castellanos spotted at the airport, waiting for his flight to London.

It stated that his “final moments” in Italy had been captured, and that the Hammers were set to welcome him as a new reinforcement.

What can the Hammers expect from Castellanos?

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side need goals, as they are the sixth-lowest goal scorers in the Premier League this season with 21 so far.

Castellanos in theory, should bring them, as while he only has two in the league this season, he has been much more efficient in the past, and also offers assists.

Castellanos’ career stats so far.

Last season, he notched 10 goals in 29 Serie A appearances, and the campaign before that, it was four in 35 matches.

He spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Girona in La Liga, where he notched 14 strikes in 37 appearances.

Four of those came against a star-studded Real Madrid side in a 4-2 victory for the Catalan club, in his most impressive feat to date.

Therefore, the evidence suggests that if you play to his strengths, he can have the required impact in front of goal.

Pablo and Castellanos are two solid additions, but the E20 outfit needs more, if they are to push on and get themselves out of relegation trouble.

However, with goalscoring being the main issue in East London, it is an encouraging sign to bring in two strikers so early in the window.
