How West Ham view new Konstantinos Mavropanos contract talks
Konstantinos Mavropanos could face an uncertain future at West Ham United.
The Greece international has been arguably the Hammers' best player over the past year.
That has taken everyone by surprise given that he had previously been quite poor in claret and blue.
He has transformed his game and become one of the first names on the team sheets at the London Stadium.
That prompted interest in his signature over the summer, but it didn't materialise.
Questions continue to surround Mavropanos' future at West Ham as an exit could soon be on the cards.
Will Konstantinos Mavropanos sign a new contract at West Ham?
It is no surprise that the defender was linked with an exit throughout the summer.
It was arguably more surprising that the Irons were able to keep hold of him.
That has proven to be a massive boost with the ex-Arsenal man winning Championship player of the month.
His performances have been largely excellent for club and country, only adding to the speculation surrounding his future.
Now, Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has suggested that he is "one to watch for the next two transfer windows"
He goes on to say that no contract talks are currently planned for Mavropanos at West Ham.
His current deal runs until the summer of 2028, but with the centre-half joining ROOF as his new agency, it seems that he has his eye on his future.
There is reportedly "significant interest" in his signature, but what does the Greek make of a potential move?
What has Mavropanos said about West Ham exit?
No one could truly blame the defender for seeking pastures new if offers are put his way.
It seems that new clubs could be looking to make a move in January or next summer after so much interest previously.
Mavropanos himself has already pledged his allegiance to West Ham after winning the player of the month award.
He said: "It was important to be in a place where I feel really good. The environment here is great, the people help us, and the fans are always supporting us.
"I want to give back to them. For me, it was never an option to just look for a way out."
It seems that he has never had an intention to leave, but that may be different when upcoming windows open.
Having scored four goals already this season, there will likely be some big offers on the table.
That will make for an interesting time in the next two windows for both West Ham and Mavropanos.
