West Ham United have been trying to convince Axel Disasi to rejoin the club.

The Hammers remain ambitious in the window, with their quest for promotion back to the Premier League underway.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have already shown holes in defence, making the dream of bringing Disasi back to the London Stadium even more desired.

However, the Irons have always understood the challenge that was present after the Frenchman's impressive performances while on loan with the club in the second half of last season.

The centre-back has said several proposals on the table, including the option of a return to E20.

Now, Disasi is set to join Crystal Palace from Chelsea, but the latest update could give West Ham some hope for the future.

Axel Disasi transfer twist could interest West Ham

West Ham were reportedly close to an agreement with Chelsea for Disasi earlier this summer, but the player wanted to take time before making his decision.

A fee in the region of around £25million was discussed, and the same figure was banded around in talks between the Blues and Palace.

However, as reported by French journalist Fabrice Hawkins on X, Disasi will undergo his medical on Monday ahead of joining the Eagles.

However, a previously reported loan fee is not set to include a buy option, which will see the centre-back return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the campaign.

That said, should West Ham get promoted back to the Premier League, they may revisit a move for the 28-year-old, which could be financially more beneficial.

How long will be left on Disasi's contract next summer?

Disasi is clearly valued at around £25m by Chelsea, a fee that West Ham seemed happy to pay for him to return.

However, it was always going to be a hard ask in trying to bring him down to the Championship.

Should Nuno steer the Hammers back to the big time, he will want to improve his defence, and a short stint in E20 may pull on Disasi's heart strings, even if he performs well for Palace.

He is contracted to Chelsea until the summer of 2029, and so there will only be two years remaining on his deal with the Blues next summer window.

There's no guarantee that he plays well for the Eagles, but Nuno and West Ham fans know just how good the defender is.

With Disasi's permanent exit from Chelsea delayed for another season, West Ham's hunt may not be over just yet.
