Hans Vanaken considers West Ham United transfer, Club Brugges take move out of equation

Club Brugges playmaker Hans Vanaken is considering a move to West Ham United, according to sports journalist Tomas Taecke.

However, the DPG Media journalist has now reported that Club Brugge considers a transfer out of the question, no matter what comes their way.

Even if a “huge” offer was to be sent over by the Hammers, it is said that there is simply no chance of the transfer happening over the next two weeks.

Vanaken to West Ham?

The 29-year-old came through the youth ranks at Dutch club PSV Eindhoven before returning to his native Belgium in 2006 and plying his trade there ever since.

The attacking midfielder, who has also been deployed in central and left midfield roles, has played for several teams in Belgium but joined Club Brugge in 2015.

In addition to this, he has also been rewarded for his performances in the Belgian Pro League with 21 caps in the Belgian national team, with his debut coming in 2018 and he has scored five goals during that time.

It is with Club Brugge that he has made the biggest impact, and since joining the Belgian giants, he has 343 appearances for the club, scoring 102 goals and providing 73 assists during that time.

This attacking output highlights his offensive threat and his creativity as during his seven years at the Jan Breydel Stadium, he has recorded a goal or assists, every 1.96 games.

With his age, experience, and clear goal threat in addition to his rumoured price of £10m, signing him would be a smart move by the Hammers – although it now looks unlikely.

In other West Ham news, the club are reportedly admirers of Blackburn Rovers striker, Ben Brereton Diaz.
