Guillaume Restes a new priority for David Sullivan, it could spell the end for West Ham ace
David Sullivan still has several issues to address in the January transfer window.
Sullivan has already splashed the cash this month, having spent £46million on Taty Castellanos and Pablo as the Hammers look to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Meanwhile, several players have already left the club, with Andy Irving being the latest to say his goodbyes in E20.
The Hammers still need a centre-back, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s defensive problems remain unaddressed.

West Ham step up interest for Guillaume Restes
West Ham are also keen on signing a new goalkeeper, meanwhile, and Toulouse star Guillaume Restes has emerged as the number one target.
Alphonse Areola has been impressive this season, although Nuno clearly doesn’t have enough trust in him.
French outlet Media Foot reports that West Ham are actively pursuing Restes to bolster their goalkeeping options this month.
The club’s hierarchy apparently view the 20-year-old shot-stopper as a priority target.
He has made a name for himself as one of Ligue 1’s brightest prospects, and is valued at roughly £17.4m (€20m).
The Hammers face competition for his signature, with both Tottenham and Newcastle also interested.
The France U21 international would be a huge coup for the Hammers, but it would likely spell the end of Mads Hermansen’s time in E20.
Mads Hermansen would be finished if Restes were to join
Hermansen is stuck on the bench at West Ham after a spell of disastrous performances at the start of the season under Graham Potter.
Mistakes in the heavy defeats to Chelsea and Sunderland didn’t fill the supporters with confidence, and he was quickly dropped for Areola.
Having signed from Leicester City for £20m, Sullivan has wasted a huge amount of funds, and he can’t afford to do the same with Restes.
| Stat | Hermansen |
| Appearances | 4 |
| Goals conceded | 11 |
| Clean sheets | 1 |
| Save percentage | 45% |
Having a player like Hermansen, who costs that much money, simply cannot be a third-choice goalkeeper.
Therefore, the best option for all parties would be to send him out on loan, where he can regain some confidence.
However, with Restes commanding a high reputation, Hermansen would need to perform miracles out on loan if he is to get back into the first-team picture.
