Guido Rodriguez transfer: West Ham United exit on cards as deal wanted

Guido Rodoriguez could soon leave West Ham United as one club will push to sign him in the coming months.

The midfielder signed for the Hammers last summer as a free agent but has failed to make a mark this season.

Rodriguez has struggled at the London Stadium and seems to have had a hard time in the Premier League.

Graham Potter has relied on Tomas Soucek in his starting lineup, making the Argentina World Cup winner’s exit in the coming months a realistic possibility.

River Plater want Rodriguez transfer from West Ham

River Plate are interested in signing Rodriguez from the Irons, according to River Noticias.

The news outlet reports (26 February) that the South American outfit will do everything possible to agree a deal for the midfielder.

River’s head coach, Marcelo Gallardo, knows the former Real Betis ace very well and is keen on adding the 30-year-old to his squad.

The Buenos Aires club want to fulfil their manager’s desire and will push to get the West Ham star in 2025.

London Stadium to say goodbye to Rodriguez

When Rodriguez arrived at the London Stadium last summer, fans were excited to see the Hammers pull off what was seen as a bargain deal.

After the Irons’ struggles under Julen Lopetegui, supporters realise the recruitment in the previous two transfer windows has left a lot to be desired.

While Rodriguez is undoubtedly a quality player, having won the World Cup with Argentina and being a regular at Betis for years, it would evidently be best for him to leave next summer.

Potter has Evan Ferguson in his ranks, but the striker is on loan from Brighton, and the midfielder’s exit could help fund the pursuit of a new number nine.

The 30-year-old seems to be out of the English manager’s plans after James Ward-Prowse returned to the Irons from Nottingham Forest.

Rodriguez isn’t a young prospect that the East London club can wait to get the best out of, and it would be wise to sell him.

Maybe the Argentina international could thrive again in a familiar setting at River, making his exit ideal for both parties.
