Guido Rodriguez ready to move as West Ham exit details emerge
Guido Rodriguez has reportedly expressed his willingness to leave West Ham to Juventus ahead of a potential January departure.
Rodriguez arrived from Real Betis two summers ago as something of a sought-after free agent but has never really fit at the London Stadium and is barely featuring this term despite the desperate state of the side’s form.
West Ham sank to a new low with a 3-0 loss at bottom side Wolves on Saturday, in which the Argentine spent the full 90 minutes on the bench as Freddie Potts and Soungoutou Magassa started in central midfield and were both replaced by Thomas Soucek and Ezra Mayers.
As such an Irons exit looks inevitable and details around Rodriguez’s mooted exit to Juventus have now emerged.
Guido Rodriguez could make loan-to-buy Juventus move
According to an update from Tutto Mercato Web in Italy the Old Lady are now deciding whether to pull the trigger on Rodriguez as a low-cost option in midfield.
A new signing at the position is a priority for Luciano Spalletti and the Serie A giants have designs on Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali, although he would be significantly more expensive.
Rodriguez, 31, on the other hand is thought to be valued at around €10million [£8.7m] and if they do go for him a loan with an option to buy is expected to be the preferred arrangement.
Juventus are said to have made contact over a deal months ago and are now only to decide whether or not to finalise it during the winter window.
- Signed for West Ham on a free transfer in 2024
- Played for three Irons managers already
- 23 Premier League appearances last season
- Only six top flight outings this term
Rodriguez is reportedly a sought-after target once again, suggesting there are other suitors in the frame, but either way developments are expected imminently.

Rodriguez could be back at West Ham in the summer
It seems clear that Rodriguez needs a move because if he can’t get in this team that is sinking like a stone then he presumably has next to nothing to offer.
For a World Cup winner to seemingly not suit at all for West Ham is a major disappointment, and how much of that is his fault, a stylistic clash, or simply a result of the constant upheaval since he arrived is hard to say.
Signed during a Tim Steidten flourish that saw deals completed for the midfielder, Crysencio Summerville, and Niclas Fullkrug sealed in quick succession looked like a major boost for the new post-David Moyes era.
But with the ex-technical director since sacked, Fullkrug now on loan at AC Milan, and Nuno Espirito Santo clinging on to avoid following Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter out as manager it is clear that nothing has gone to plan.
A loan with an option would be better than him sitting on the bench collecting dust at the London Stadium but obviously raises the prospect of him being sent back to square one at the end of the season.
There is an outside chance that West Ham make yet another change at manager and the replacement has a clear use for Rodriguez, but it certainly feels like the club have already moved on.
