Graham Potter could make Chelsea player his first West Ham signing

Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could become Graham Potter’s first signing at West Ham, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via their print edition (9 January, page 69) that once Potter is appointed after the sacking of Julen Lopetegui, the former Leicester man could be an “option” for the Hammers.

One of West Ham’s main problem areas this term has been the centre of the park so it’s not all that much of a surprise to see names being linked with a London Stadium switch already.

West Ham hiring Graham Potter could be the best move of the window

Although there were times when Lopetegui seemed to prove his worth and earn three points for the Hammers, those results felt like they came too far between one another.

He may have only been with the club for half the 2024/25 season but it felt like that was more than enough time for West Ham to figure out that he wasn’t the right man for the job.

His playstyle was too similar to that of David Moyes’ and he seemingly couldn’t get the best out of the likes of Mohammed Kudus on a regular basis.

After their massive summer of spending, it felt like the London Stadium outfit were destined for the European places but instead, they’ve ended up 14th in the top flight and even sometimes included as part of relegation talks.

Potter’s style of play is massively different to that of Moyes and Lopetegui and while he hasn’t yet been announced in the role, it feels like only a matter of time until he is.
