Gabby Agbonlahor confused by West Ham transfer rumour he’s read, player they want is a coward

Gabby Agbonlahor is baffled to see West Ham United being linked with Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The West Midlands outfit signed the striker for £23million in the summer from Celta Vigo after his impressive loan spell.

Strand Larsen has now emerged as a target at the London Stadium, with the Hammers in desperate need of reinforcements.

Niclas Fullkrug seems to be on his way to AC Milan, and it’s clear that the Irons need at least one new quality number nine in the winter transfer window.

Jorgen Strand Larsen doesn’t merit West Ham interest

Strand Larsen has been a shadow of the player he was in the Premier League last season, Agbonlahor says.

The former Aston Villa star can’t understand why the Hammers want the Norway international at London Road after scoring just one league goal in 15 appearances in the current campaign.

Wolves have been deemed a team full of cowards, and the 25-year-old striker has failed to live up to expectations as Rob Edwards’ team sit last in the table on two points.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 22 December, Agbonlahor said: “Strand Larsen, I’m seeing reports of him going to West Ham, and I’m like, he’s done nothing this season. Shadow of the player that scored so many goals last season. But for me, Wolves are a team full of cowards.”

Nuno has been unable to rely on Fullkrug due to his fitness issues, and while his departure makes sense, the East London club need to make better recruitment decisions in January.

The Germany international is just one of the many number nines the Hammers have signed over the years who have failed to make a mark in E20.

Nuno Espirito Santo accused of defensive mentality after baffling decision

Callum Wilson has shown he’s capable of leading the line at the London Stadium, with the former Newcastle United striker the only real recognised goalscorer at Nuno Espirito Santo’s disposal.

Despite the England international’s decent form, the Portuguese manager has been reluctant to start him, but the 33-year-old centre-forward playing alongside Bowen may give West Ham the best chance of avoiding relegation.

On talkSPORT, Ally McCoist said, “I think their best chance is getting Bowen and Wilson in the same team,” and Agbonlahor responded, “100 per cent. It baffles me how he doesn’t start him more often. It’s like a defensive mentality from the manager.”

Nuno needs to turn things around sooner rather than later, and while the transfer window gives the Irons an opportunity to strengthen, it remains to be seen whether the Portuguese manager is trusted to lead the team at the turn of the year.
