Freddie Potts sends five-word message as West Ham exit officially confirmed

West Ham United need to strengthen their midfield roster this summer, but Freddie Potts will be eager to himself make an impression.

Carlos Soler has departed following his loan spell from Paris Saint-Germain, and the Hammers are keen on signing more players to boost their options in the middle.

Potts spent last season on loan at Portsmouth from West Ham, and he was outstanding in the Championship.

The youngster has now reacted after one of his fellow players departed East London.

Potts and Ollie Scarles react to Patrick Kelly’s exit

Despite interest from the Championship, Graham Potter has now seemingly decided to keep Potts in the West Ham first team.

The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, but while they wait to hear about the Brazilian’s future, Potts could be assessed.

The Irons have already been ruthless with their youngsters this summer, letting Sean Moore return to his native Ireland and now Patrick Kelly has departed the London Stadium for Barnsley.

Potts has now reacted to Kelly’s Instagram post announcing his departure (28 July) by leaving a comment saying: “All the best PK mate”.

Fellow youth player Oscar Scarles also commented, saying: “Been a pleasure mate,” followed by a heart and a teary-eyed emoji.

Young left-back Ollie Scarles could be part of the first-team squad next season after it was announced that he will wear the number 30 shirt.

Potts has been given the number 32 shirt, and in the club statement which announced the shirt numbers, was referred to as a “first-team player”.

Given the fact that Potts is still at the club, it is a clear sign that Potter sees him as capable of competing for a first-team spot.

The midfielder has made three senior appearances for West Ham after impressing in the academy and has been showing his capabilities during pre-season.
