Flynn Downes exit update emerges at West Ham United amid £15m Southampton news

West Ham United are hashing out details for the potential departure of Flynn Downes amid valuation discrepancies with Southampton, according to Jack Rosser.

Writing on X (June 28), The Sun journalist claimed that the Hammers are holding firm on a £15million initial fee, with bonuses linked to the Saints’ Premier League survival.

Contrary to previous reports, West Ham’s pursuit of Downes does not hinge on Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters moving in the opposite direction, with the Irons looking at other right-backs.

An alternative agreement could therefore be sought with Southampton that would see Downes move to St Mary’s in a straight-cash transaction.

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town have also shown keen interest in the midfielder.

West Ham United make busy start to summer transfer window

West Ham are really busy in this summer’s transfer window, with lots going on to reshape their squad.

The Hammers have decided against pursuing Jonathan David from Lille [The Guardian] and instead are focusing on finding a new striker to support or replace Michail Antonio, who’s been doing a steady enough job upfront for now.

United are also looking at Jayden Oosterwolde from Fenerbahce for around £21million to strengthen their defence [Sabah, 28 June].

Negotiations for Max Kilman from Wolves are up in the air, with West Ham not wanting to meet the £45m asking price.

Bringing in a new right-back has to be one of the priorities, though, whether that is Walker-Peters or someone else.

Julen Lopetegui’s influence is key as the club tries to make smart moves amidst all the competition, so who knows how many more players could be arriving at the London Stadium before the transfer deadline.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have made contact with Jaden Philogene over a potential summer switch from Hull City
