Fabrizio Romano: West Ham United-linked Jhon Duran to be subject of Aston Villa transfer meeting amid speculation
Aston Villa and Chelsea will meet to discuss a potential transfer for West Ham target, Jhon Duran, according to Fabrizio Romano.
As reported by the Daily Mail (25 January), the Hammers have already made an enquiry for Duran this month which was rebuffed by the Villans.
Romano has now revealed via his Daily Briefing (25 January) that Chelsea are set to have a direct meeting with Unai Emery’s side to discuss Duran.
The Italian journalist revealed, “Armando Broja continues to attract interest towards the end of the January transfer window. We can mention the likes of West Ham, Wolves, but it’s also important to mention Aston Villa – they have always been interested in that possibility, and from what I’m hearing now, there will be a direct meeting with Chelsea to discuss Jhon Duran.
“Chelsea have been linked with Duran by the Telegraph and I can confirm there is an interest, but Chelsea have not decided yet whether they want to proceed – nothing is advanced or decided.
“Chelsea have discussed this possibility internally, and for sure there will be contacts to discuss the conditions of the deal, then we’ll see if it goes beyond a conversation and they decide to make a bid.”
Poker
With Broja and Duran both at the centre of this latest transfer saga, it appears that some transfer dominoes could be set to fall, and David Moyes will hope that West Ham can somehow take advantage of the situation.
Both strikers could very well be on the move before the January window closes, and the Hammers are in desperate need of reinforcements in that area of the pitch.
Having lost Michail Antonio to injury, Moyes is short of options up top, and either Broja or Duran would certainly be a smart addition for the Scotsman.

Neither player has set the world alight with their performances this season, with Broja scoring just twice in all competitions while Duran has netted four times. However, both are young players who could benefit from more regular playing time.
West Ham will hope to muscle their way into what looks to be a closed conversation between Villa and Chelsea for now.
In other West Ham news, the club have received a response after submitting an offer for a Euro defender.
