Fabrizio Romano shares new West Ham United and Lucas Paqueta transfer update
A fresh Manchester City bid for West Ham star Lucas Paqueta is expected very soon, as the midfielder is the priority for City, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Romano shared via his Twitter account on 15 August that a new formal bid from the Premier League champions is 100% guaranteed to arrive, as it is currently being prepared after City had an earlier bid turned down by West Ham.
The Hammers are set to be reluctant to lose the Brazilian, having already lost Declan Rice this summer, as losing both of their star players could derail their expectations for the coming season.
West Ham may be powerless to resist
As manager David Moyes said following the opening day draw against Bournemouth, every player at the club has a price on their head, and it remains to be seen whether Manchester City are willing to reach that price.
An initial £70million bid for the Brazilian was rejected by West Ham as it didn’t meet their valuation, which is rumoured to be upwards of £100million in light of the current market after Moises Caicedo completed a move to Chelsea for a rumoured £115million fee.
It has also been rumoured that Paqueta is very keen on the deal, and would jump at the opportunity to join the mega-rich side, with all signs pointing towards this one happening. Ultimately, West Ham are powerless to resist if City decide to meet their asking price.

The Hammers are said to be lining up a move for Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus [Sky Sports, 14 August] in preparation for Paqueta’s departure, as they look to soften the blow of losing who is widely regarded as their best player.
In other West Ham news, Harry Maguire has made a ‘massive’ demand ahead of leaving Manchester United.
