Fabrizio Romano: Real Betis chief speaks out over Pablo Fornals transfer, West Ham United blamed
Real Betis CEO Ramon Alarcon has spoken out over the club’s proposed transfer of West Ham United winger Pablo Fornals.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano on X on Friday (2 February), Alarcon said: “Pablo Fornals deal has been affected by West Ham issues with the transfer documents.
“West Ham had some problems with all the deals they did. We are optimistic as we hope to complete Fornals deal in the next days.”
Complicated
Romano explained that Fornals has now joined fellow Hammers winger Said Benrahma in having some transfer complications in the final moments of the window.
The Algerian was closing in on a last-gasp switch to Lyon, with Fornals seemingly close to joining Betis, but neither deal has gone through.
Betis CEO Alarcon does, however, seem confident enough that they can still snap up Fornals, although that remains to be seen.
The Spanish winger has been left out in the cold by David Moyes for the majority of the season, but that has changed in recent weeks, with Fornals getting a handful of starts recently.
But that changed once more in the most recent clash against Bournemouth on Thursday (1 February), with the 27-year-old left out of the squad entirely amid his potential move to Spain.
It is perhaps rather surprising for many Hammers supporters that both Benrahma and Fornals have been close to exits, with the club surely needing all the help they can get in the coming months in their bid for success in the Premier League and Europa League.
In other West Ham news, a Hammers exit deal broke down after an offer was made, with a manager rejection detailed.
