West Ham United: Fabrizio Romano shares January transfer update on Said Benrahma and Steven Bergwijn
Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on the transfer activity that could still happen at West Ham before the January transfer window closes.
United have yet to bring in any new players this month, while Conor Coventry and Thilo Kehrer have departed – the latter on an initial loan deal.
The remaining two weeks of the window could be a little busier for the Irons, with outgoings and incomings possible at London Stadium.

Said Benrahma has been linked with Lyon, while Ajax winger Steven Bergwijn may head the opposite way from Ajax.
In an update provided via GiveMeSport [17 January], Romano said: “Benrahma’s move to Lyon could happen if they offer the right amount of money and the player wants to go.
“But it is not an easy situation for Lyon because the player is taking his time to decide whether to make the move.
“If Benrahma leaves the club, Steven Bergwijn could be an option. There is a possibility that he will sign because he is a top target for West Ham.
“There are some candidates on the list, but we have to wait for outgoings at West Ham.”
Upgrade
Benrahma’s hopes of prolonging his West Ham career surely came to an end with his dismissal in the loss to Bristol City on Tuesday (16 January).
The Algerian simply has not showed he is capable of being a regular under David Moyes and an exit this month makes sense for everyone involved.
Should that be the case, United would ideally bring in a replacement. In Bergwijn, they would be signing a player who had a rather mixed time of things in the Premier League with Tottenham.

The Dutchman has been in great form since returning to Ajax, having scored 12 goals and assisted five in Eredivisie last season, while he has seven and three respectively in 14 games this term.
As the signing of Mohammed Kudus has showed, it is easy for a player to transfer those attacking qualities across to the Premier League if given the right environment to thrive.
If it is simply a case of getting Benrahma off the books and bringing in Bergwijn, no West Ham fan can complain about that development.
