ExWHUemployee: West Ham to announce four-year deal for Ollie Scarles in next ‘week or so’
West Ham academy gem Ollie Scarles has signed a new four-year deal with the option for a fifth, according to ExWHUemployee.
The Irons source reported via the West Ham Way website (12 September) that the club have been working on a contract with Mark Noble being a “key figure” to help secure the deal.
It was added that the Irons could confirm the contract extension in “the next week or so” once “promotional shots have been done” ahead of an announcement.
West Ham to announce Ollie Scarles contract
It is clearly a priority for the club to tie down their young talents to new contracts before they can complete a move elsewhere.
This happened over the summer with Divin Mubama completing a move to Manchester City at the end of his contract in East London.
The Hammers don’t want this to happen again as it is a waste of years of development in the academy.
A deal has already been confirmed which will see Lewis Orford remain at the club and now they have turned their attention to Scarles.
The left back is highly rated by the Irons and there is hope that he could become a first-team regular in years to come.

With the news that Emerson Palmeri looks set to remain at the club [Fabrizio Romano], his immediate first-team pathway looks pretty difficult but, with a new deal, he will likely have assurances about how his position in the squad in the long term.
It is an exciting time for the club and with the talent coming through, Julen Lopetegui has a positive squad to utilise.
