ExWHUemployee: West Ham ready new bid to sign Hans Vanaken as Club Brugge star stance emerges

West Ham are readying a new bid to sign Hans Vakanen after Club Brugge rejected an opening offer for their star midfielder, according to ExWHUemployee.

Writing via his Patreon account on Thursday morning (18 August), the Hammers insider claimed that talks are being held on Thursday with left-back targets.

As well as that, the Irons are “preparing to submit another offer for Hans Vanaken the Club Brugge captain today”.

Ex says that Vanaken, 29, has made it clear to Brugge that he wants to join West Ham.

Extra depth

West Ham are clearly signing Vanaken to bolster their attacking options.

While the Belgium international has been an ever-present at Brugge for seven years, winning multiple club and individual honours, we don’t see how he breaks into our starting line-up on a regular basis.

That, however, isn’t a bad thing because we need the squad depth to be able to perform well both in domestic and domestic competitions.

Vanaken, who is Brugge’s captain, is a serial winner and is also experienced at playing in the Champions League and Europa League.

He should be a real asset to David Moyes’ squad and the fact he wants to leave a club he’s been at for so long to join us says it all about his desire and ambition.

The only thing that worries us is that Vanaken will turn 30 next week so this deal isn’t one that will see the Hammers sign much in terms of resale value.

But having him in the squad could be invaluable for our chances both at home and on the road this season.
