ExWHUemployee shares fresh Harry Maguire twist as West Ham United pull out of deal with Manchester United

ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham walking away from a deal for Harry Maguire could be a tactic to speed up a deal with Manchester United.

Writing on his Twitter account (15 August), the reliable insider was reacting to reports that the club have pulled out of a deal to sign the Manchester United defender after growing tired of waiting for him to agree an exit with the Red Devils.

However much like when the club walked away from a deal for James Ward-Prowse before returning and completing a deal, and Ex suggested a similar situation could be unfolding here.

“Just been told we are going to start working on other targets 100 perfect as we are getting frustrated at the lack of movement,” he wrote.

“This could of course be a tactic to get the ball moving.”

Likely

West Ham moving on to other targets and looking at alternative deals isn’t something that should be ignored, because if they find a better deal they may well go for it.

But the Hammers have clearly wanted Maguire as their first choice and after getting a deal agreed for him with Manchester United and agreeing personal terms, it seems weird to already walk away.

However, we need to have a realistic outlook and can’t be held to just wait for something to happen because if it does then fall through we would be left without and be struggling.

There’s still a few weeks to go in the window and there’s every chance that the issues get solved quickly and we can seal the deal to get Moyes the man he wants.

It’s interesting to see how this will go and this is definitely one to keep an eye on, but for now Maguire won’t be coming to the London Stadium and our hunt for a new centre-back goes on.
