ExWHUemployee: Kai Corbett is pursuing West Ham exit
West Ham 18-year-old forward Kai Corbett is “courting” a move to other clubs, according to Irons insider ExWHUemployee.
The Athletic journalist Roshane Thomas reported last Friday [16/07/21] that the Englishman had rejected a two-year professional deal with the Irons.
His decision was said to lie partly because he felt the arrival of Thierry Nevers from Reading would reduce his chances of playing in the future.
During a question and answer segment on The West Ham Way Patreon [21/07/21] on Wednesday night, Ex was asked whether talks were still continuing with Corbett.
Ex replied: “I think he is courting other clubs. He got himself a trial at Manchester United before.”
It was only last month that the official West Ham club website published an ‘Academy Quickfire Questions’ article with the teenage forward
However, it looks like the player who joined the Academy of Football in 2014 as a 12-year-old will be on the move this summer.
The signing of Nevers from Reading looks to have unsettled him, and it’s hard to blame him too much as he will be desperate to make his mark in senior football sooner rather than later.
Plenty of clubs are losing young players this summer as starlets refuse to sit around anymore and rot away in the reserve or youth sides.
They can make money elsewhere so cash becomes less of a concern, and players are putting their future in football first.
Time will tell whether this is one we may end up regretting, but there still could be a chance that he stays in east London.
Hopes appear to be fading fast, however.
