Ex-WHU Employee expects at least four West Ham summer signings
West Ham insider ExWHUEmployee has revealed that the club are looking to sign four players in the summer with a striker being their priority.
Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, he said, “David Moyes wants to move early for a striker in the summer transfer window in order to work with him in pre-season, let him settle and be ready for the start of next season.
“The club will explore the possibility of signing their top target, Tammy Abraham, on loan with an option to buy.
“Once they have signed a striker in the summer, Moyes will then look to sign a centre-back, left-back and a centre midfielder.”
The Hammers will be missing out on Champions League football, so attracting a certain brand of player may prove to be more difficult.
However, they’re set to play in Europe, either in the Europa League or the Europa Conference League, and will take the extra revenue that comes with it.
Need to get these right
In the past few summer windows, we have spent lavishly on players that haven’t proven their worth at the London Stadium.
Whether it’s bad scouting, bad recruitment, a bit of both, is anyone’s guess, but at the end of the day, most of the blame and criticism is directed towards the manager.
Moyes has shown us this season that with the right players he wants how well he can do with the Hammers.
Nobody expected us to challenge for Champions League football after 30 games to play, but we went all out, and had a few results gone differently we would still be in with a realistic chance.
That said, regardless of where we finish, it’s been an extremely successful season and if we are to replicate it, we need to get our transfers right.
Signing the right striker is paramount while a midfielder could be a priority too should Declan Rice leave.
Defensively we haven’t looked the best and wouldn’t hurt to get an upgrade there either.
It’s good to see the club making moves this early in the window and we’re hoping some of this urgency pays off.
