Harry Montague has put pen to paper on a first professional contract with West Ham United.

The Hammers have prided themselves over the years with having an academy that promotes a pathway to the first team.

Players such as Oliver Scarles, Joshua Ajala and Lewis Orford are just a few of the more recent names to make their way into the senior squad.

Those in the Academy of Football will look to those examples as proof that the Irons are the right set up to be in as they seek a football career.

And Montague will be looking ahead to the next step of his time at West Ham following the latest announcement of his contract.

Here is what we know about the 17-year-old following the news.

Who is Harry Montague? The latest West Ham gem to agree professional terms

Montague is a centre-back by trade and at just 17 years old already comes in at a height of 6'1".

The official West Ham announcement describes the youngster as an "elegant" defender, who is also capable of featuring at fullback as well.

Montague had been in the academy since the under-nine age group but would ultimately later spend time away from the Irons.

He rejoined in the 2024 season, earning himself a scholarship contract for the summer of 2025.

Last season, he helped the under-17s lift the U17 Premier League Cup through his performances.

Now, his progression is moving in a linear fashion with him signing professional terms with the Hammers for the first time.

Montague has been making appearances for the under-21s already, with four games to his tally this season.

His deal also follows West Ham's agreement with Isaac Thomas, who has also put pen to paper on a professional contract in the last month, as well as multiple other youth prospects.

Do we know the length of Montague's West Ham contract?

As of now, there are no official details on the terms of the contract Montague has signed.

But, we do know that the defender has not been back at West Ham for long.

Montague made his under-18s debut back in January 2025, so to agree a professional deal just 22 months later is a true showing of the youngsters qualities.

For now, the centre-back will likely continue making breakthroughs in the under-21s set-up, with eyes to be on an eventual first-team appearance down the line.
