But now that the transfer window is closed, there has been some work done at academy level to tie down an exciting prospect.

Do we know how long Isaac Thomas' West Ham United's contract is?

As yet, West Ham have not confirmed how the length of Thomas' first contract.

Still aged only 16, the Irons did not disclose the length of his contract on either their official website or via their X account.

However, we do know that the Romford-born midfielder has been with West Ham since the age of five.

There is now an excitement to see how his development continues now that pro terms have been agreed.

What has Isaac Thomas said about his new West Ham contract?

Thomas spoke of the "surreal" feeling he was experiencing after signing his first pro deal.

The teenager paid tribute to his family, and revealed the ties to the club especially from his mother's side.

Speaking to West Ham's official website, Thomas said: "My Dad [Paul] took me to training three, four times a week for the past however many years, and my Mum [Louise] took me to games when my Dad couldn't.

“Them just supporting me, allowing me to do what I wanted to do with going to West Ham for so long. It's just helped me a lot and I definitely wouldn't be here now without them.

“West Ham has always been my club. Especially my Mum's side, she's from Romford as well. She's West Ham through her Dad as well, so this is our club!”

What do we know about what Isaac Thomas has done so far?

Thomas has played his way through the age groups at West Ham, and is seen as a real prospect for the first team.

He is already a Wales Under-19 international, while he made his Hammers Under-18 debut in May 2025 when he was only 15.

On his first Under-18 Premier League South start, Thomas bagged four goals in an 8-2 win over Ipswich Town.

Thomas has already made his U21s debut for the Hammers, playing in the Premier League International Cup against Borussia Dortmund.

He was also influential as West Ham won the U17 Premier League cup final, assisting the opening goal in a 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers.

For Wales, he has played at U15, U16, U17 and U19 level.

What is next for Isaac Thomas at West Ham?

There is plenty of time on Thomas' side.

The next step is to continue his development with the Hammers' youth teams, and perhaps look to entrench himself in the U21s.

At some stage, West Ham will likely look for a loan move, but that does not feel like something in the immediate future.

And, naturally, the long-term aim is for Thomas to make his breakthrough into the Irons' first team.
