Everything we know about Tomas Soucek’s West Ham contract situation amid summer exit links

Tomas Soucek was linked with a move away from West Ham last summer.

The Czechia international has been a regular at the London Stadium over the years, but hasn’t always been a guaranteed starter.

He has been in and out of the side under Nuno Espirito Santo, with his future still up in the air, moving closer to the summer.

With the Hammers deep in a relegation battle, there will be no solution surrounding the midfielder until the end of the campaign.

That won’t give Soucek any security in East London, and now West Ham Zone have rounded up everything to know about his contract right now.

What is Tomas Soucek’s current contract situation at West Ham?

He may not be a constant starter in claret and blue right now, but you would struggle to find an Irons fan who doesn’t love the number 28.

Since signing from Slavia Prague, the midfielder has been a constant goal threat while also working incredibly hard for his teammates.

That hasn’t always been reflected around him in E20, but no one can question his efforts when featuring for the Hammers.

It is for that reason that West Ham tied him down to a new contract at the London Stadium in January 2024 to keep him around until 2027.

Reports suggest that this contract extension came with a £90,000 per week wage, totalling a yearly salary in the region of £4.6million.

Even with a sizable pay packet for a squad player, it could prove to be a blow to lose him when the summer rolls around in 2027.

When could Soucek leave West Ham?

The Czech ace may be in contract for another year, but an exit could be in the pipeline sooner than his deal comes to an end.

With West Ham sitting 18th in the Premier League, relegation could be a realistic prospect, and that would likely mark a summer clearout at the London Stadium.

On those wages, Soucek would likely be on the departure list, and a cut-price move could be in the pipeline due to the state of his contract.

If Nuno drags his side out of the bottom three and avoids the Championship, the 30-year-old may stick around and see out his deal before departing on a free in June 2027.
