ExWHUEmployee shares ‘ridiculous’ Edson Alvarez update at West Ham amid transfer interest
West Ham United will not consider selling Edson Alvarez unless a “ridiculous offer” is tabled, according to ExWHUEmployee.
The Hammers news source was responding on his personal X account [20 August] amid talk that Alvarez is attracting transfer interest.
Fabrizio Romano reported on X [20 August] that clubs are still keeping tabs on the Mexico international, but no bids have yet been made.
Asked if United will consider a sale before 30 August, Ex said: “I don’t think we would unless a ridiculous offer.
“That’s always been my understanding. Lopetegui sees him as a key player.”
Edson Alvarez will not be leaving West Ham
Alvarez’s absence was felt in the 2-1 loss to Aston Villa on the opening weekend of the Premier League campaign.
For all the impressive signings the Irons have made – and Guido Rodriguez will no doubt come good – Alvarez remains one of the first picks.
As Ex points out, there is no such thing as a player not being for sale. If £120million was offered for Jarrod Bowen, say, the club would sell.
The same is true of Alvarez. If a big money bid – or a “ridiculous” one – is tabled over the next 10 days, West Ham will of course consider it. They would be silly not to.
That will surely not be the case, however, and West Ham fans can look forward to having the Mexican back in central midfield very soon indeed.
Rather than outgoings, let’s hope the next 10 days is instead dominated by talk of who else could arrive as United build a squad that can challenge for the top seven.
In other West Ham news, any of these nine players could still be on their way out of the London Stadium this summer.
