Dharmesh Sheth: West Ham United target Filip Kostic would consider Hammers, rejected others

Filip Kostic has turned down the chance to play for two Champions League clubs and will consider West Ham if a deal is agreed according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist revealed (via Twitter, 27 July) that an initial £12.6million offer has been rejected by the Hammers, with talks still ongoing between the clubs.

The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg has suggested (via Twitter, 27 July) that West Ham will go back in with an improved offer for Kostic.

Premier League chance

Could the draw of playing in the Premier League place the Hammers in a good position to draw the Serbian wing-back to the London Stadium?

The chance to ply his trade in the most competitive league in the world could well be the main attraction for Kostic when considering his next move.

A Frankfurt exit does look likely for the 29-year-old with his current contract coming to a close in the summer of 2023.

The Bundesliga club could well be inclined to sell Kostic this summer and that’s why West Ham might even cut a chunk off of the £16.8million asking price.

The thought of Kostic and Gianluca Scamacca in the same team is an extremely exciting prospect for Hammers fans.

Kostic is known for his crossing ability and that could be a superb supply line for the likes of Scamacca and Michail Antonio to feed off of.

West Ham must convince the Frankfurt man that their ambitions align with his and that he could potentially be back playing Champions League football in the coming years.
