Dharmesh Sheth: Jack Clarke fits David Moyes and Tim Steidten transfer criteria at West Ham United, ‘One to watch’
Sunderland forward Jack Clarke fits the profile of players David Moyes and Tim Steidten want to sign for West Ham, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
Speaking to GiveMeSport on Friday (12 January), the Sky Sports journalist said the Hammers are interested in the 23-year-old, but that the Championship club are under “no pressure to sell” due to him still having two-and-a-half years left on his contract.
But he added that the situation surrounding the English winger is “definitely one to watch” as the Irons look to add to their attacking options in the January transfer window.

“Make no mistake, he is a player that does interest West Ham United, Jack Clarke,” said Sheth. “The right profile you would think for everybody at the club.
“When we’ve been talking about it in the past, are some of the signings David Moyes signings? Are some of them Tim Steidten signings? He would probably fit the criteria and the profile of both David Moyes and Tim Steidten, so you can see why there is an interest in the player.
“Sunderland are under no pressure to sell or let him go in this window. He still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract. Definitely one to watch though.”
Don’t mess around
This is a transfer window where West Ham can’t afford to mess around because they need to strengthen in the forward positions following the current injury crisis.
With Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio all set to be sidelined for the next few weeks and Mohammed Kudus joining the Ghana squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, the Hammers’ options have been decimated.
Clarke would go some way towards easing those problems after he’s been a standout player for Sunderland over the past couple of seasons, having scored 12 goals in 26 Championship appearances during this campaign.

The former Tottenham man will be desperate for another shot at the Premier League after he previously made just four appearances during his time in North London.
It will take some ambition for the Irons to get a deal over the line due to his contract situation at the Stadium of Light, so we may have to get our chequebook out if we want to bring in the winger this month.
In other West Ham news, a journalist has shared the likelihood of two player exits at the London Stadium in January.
