Dharmesh Sheth drops Fabricio Bruno update ahead of imminent West Ham United move

West Ham United are moving closer to signing Fabricio Bruno from Flamengo with him set to become Julen Lopetegui’s first signing, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Hammers look set to make the Brazilian their first signing of the summer with an £11.5 million fee now mooted.

Sheth has suggested to GiveMeSport (30 May) that Bruno is a Tim Steidten signing after having “scoured the globe” for transfer prospects.

The Sky Sports reporter has also suggested that the deal has moved closer to completion.

He said: “This one looks like it’s when and not if, and this will be Julen Lopetegui’s first signing as West Ham boss.”

Fabricio Bruno move to West Ham edges closer

There has been no secret about the Hammers’ pursuit and admiration of the Brazilian defender ahead of the summer window.

Steidten has taken charge of transfers since the departure of David Moyes and is looking to exercise his vision this summer.

He is working alongside Lopetegui who has taken over as head coach at the London Stadium in a change of direction for the Hammers.

This has seen West Ham move for talents from niche leagues with Bruno and Wesley Gassova considered from the Brazilian Serie A [Matteo Moretto].

The defender has spent his whole career in South America and at 28 years old signing him could prove to be a risk due to his lack of experience.

He does have great physicality and has good ability on the ball which could make him well suited to the Premier League.

The deal for him looks to be edging closer as Lopetegui and Steidten make their first addition of the new Hammers era.

In other West Ham United news, the club are in “advanced talks” to complete a new signing.
