Deadline day Max Kilman exit update emerges as Premier League rivals line up West Ham dud
Crystal Palace have internally discussed a deadline-day move for West Ham United flop Max Kilman.
Kilman has been woeful for West Ham this season, and many Hammers fans feel that it is time for the club to cut their losses and move him on.
The 28-year-old only completed his move to the London Stadium in the summer of 2024, joining from Wolves for a fee of £40million.
It’s clear that the centre-back has failed to live up to his price tag, and he is now dropping down the pecking order under Nuno Espirito Santo, left out of the starting lineup in each of the last four Premier League games.
Crystal Palace make decision on Max Kilman move
According to Crystal Palace journalist Bobby Manzi, the Eagles have been considering Kilman as a potential solution to their centre-back issues.
Oliver Glasner’s side saw their captain Marc Guehi leave to join Manchester City earlier in the window, weakening their defensive options.
Palace’s current sporting director Matt Hobbs was chief scout at Wolves when Kilman moved to Molineux in the summer of 2018.
However, despite the clear links, the South London side have reportedly decided against pursuing a move for the West Ham centre-half.
Decision makers at Palace have opposed the idea of signing Kilman, clearly seeing it as too risky given the Englishman’s poor form this season.
Max Kilman set for further West Ham problems
As the opportunity for a move away from his West Ham nightmare slips away, Kilman’s situation has gone from bad to worse.
The former Wolves man is already out of favour under Nuno, but he is now set to fall even further down the pecking order.
West Ham are working on the signing of Axel Disasi from Chelsea, and have agreed a deal to bring in the French centre-back on loan until the end of the season.
Disasi is now undergoing his medical ahead of a move to the London Stadium, but the Hammers are concerned that the 27-year-old may not actually want to join.
He rejected a switch to West Ham in the summer, and there is a worry that history might repeat itself on deadline day.
