David Moyes speaks out on West Ham United transfers on Sky Sports
West Ham United manager David Moyes has admitted he is an “admirer of a lot of players” as the Irons look to add to their squad before the September 1 deadline.
The Hammers have been busy this summer having sold Declan Rice to Arsenal before making four additions but there is still a chance that there could be more arrivals at the London Stadium, with links to Filip Kostic and Hugo Ekitike [Evening Standard, 31 August].
Moyes has been looking to strengthen his frontline this summer with a need for a new striker, especially after Gianluca Scamacca’s departure to Atalanta, but the Scotsman refused to be drawn into discussing individual targets.
Speaking to the media on Thursday (31 August) as shared by Sky Sports on Twitter, he said: “A player at another club, you wouldn’t get me commenting on a player at another club.
“I’m an admirer of a lot of players, but again I would never comment about a player at another club.”

While it is not unusual for a manager to refuse to speak about a player from another club, the comment from Moyes about admiring several players suggests that there could be more work being done by the Hammers before the 1 September deadline.
Everyone involved with West Ham will likely know that a new forward is required this summer, not least Moyes, but with money still left in the transfer pot and not long left to spend it, it is becoming increasingly likely a new face will come through the door at the London Stadium.

With a move for Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto collapsing [Evening Standard, 31 August] Moyes and those above him in East London have had to change their plans as they hunt for forwards and Ekitike is viewed as next on the shopping list.
Deadline day always brings with it chaos and Moyes’ reluctance to speak about either the Frenchman or Kostic would suggest nothing is likely to happen today at the London Stadium, but you’d have to imagine there will be a late push from the Irons to get something over the line.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers could also be set to add to their ranks in defence with a Chelsea left-back of interest
