David Moyes hopes to meet Jesse Lingard on Sunday in late West Ham signing attempt
David Moyes is hoping to meet Jesse Lingard on Sunday evening as he makes a last bid to convince the 28-year-old Manchester United attacker to sign for West Ham.
That’s according to Irons insider ExWHUemployee, writing on The West Ham Way on Patreon [29/08/21].
He wrote: “I was also told that the Lingard situation is looking a lot brighter with Moyes hoping to meet with him tomorrow [Sunday] after the Wolves game to discuss signing for the club.”

Lingard is said to be “seriously considering his future” after Friday’s announcement that Cristiano Ronaldo is set to re-join the Red Devils, and Moyes is hopeful of securing a £15million-plus deal with David Sullivan’s backing.
Ex added: “If Lingard signs this could be the only forward option that gets signed and Moyes uses him as a false nine. Moyes is hopeful he can persuade him to join.”

Last chance
Lingard to West Ham has been one of the transfer sagas of the summer.
The England international enjoyed a spectacular loan spell at the London Stadium during the second half of last season, scoring nine times to help inspire the Irons to a sixth-placed Premier League finish and a Europa League berth.
But despite initial optimism that he would return to east London, it has become increasingly unlikely with the Warrington-born attacker seemingly determined to win back a place in the Manchester United team, despite the arrival of Jadon Sancho making that task even more difficult than it already was.
However, while that was a blow to his hopes of more game time with the 2020/21 Premier League runners-up, the agreement to sign Ronaldo has further decimated his chances of regular minutes and thus an exit is surely more likely now.
