Daniel Cummings transfer: Graham Potter promise revealed at West Ham United

Graham Potter has made a massive promise to Celtic forward Daniel Cummings as West Ham United look to complete a transfer.

The Hammers are one of the teams interested in the 18-year-old as they look to tie him down to a pre-contract agreement.

In the winter transfer window, the Hammers wanted to bring Cummings to the London Stadium but could not agree a deal before the 3 February deadline.

Now, it looks like the Irons are doing all they can to sign the Scottish youngster in the coming months with the assurances being given.

West Ham United make Daniel Cummings transfer promise

Mark Noble and Potter have promised to involve Cummings in the first team if he completes a move to the East London club, according to Hammers News.

The news outlet reports (18 February) that the Hammers have told the 18-year-old that he will be involved in the senior squad from the get-go.

It has been claimed that the Irons are trying to persuade the young striker to join them over other clubs by assuring him that he will be a part of Potter’s plans straightaway.

It remains to be seen whether this will be enough to convince Cummings to join West Ham.

Daniel Cummings part of next generation at London Stadium

The 18-year-old could potentially be part of the next generation of stars the Irons are producing in Rush Green.

Potter’s arrival at the London Stadium has given fresh hope to fans, but the English manager has struggled during his initial days at the East London club.

While the Hammers’ faithful wanted to see Julen Lopetegue leave, the former Chelsea and Brighton boss needs to do better in order to convince supporters.

Injuries have not helped Potter in his squad, with Lucas Paqueta being deployed as a striker due to the unavailability of a natural number nine.

The Irons signed Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton on Deadline Day, but it will be interesting to see whether the English manager can bring the best out of the young Irish forward.

With the East London club evidently needing a reliable goalscorer, Cummings is still young and can’t be expected to shoulder the burden if he is signed.

While Potter has made a promise to the 18-year-old, it seems unrealistic to expect the youngster to be involved in a majority of the games next season.
