Crystal Palace want to sign West Ham United ace Maxwel Cornet in late January loan deal
Crystal Palace are weighing up a late bid to sign West Ham winger Maxwel Cornet on a six-month loan deal before the January transfer deadline on 1 February, according to The Telegraph.
The newspaper reported via their website on 31 January that David Moyes could allow Cornet to leave the London Stadium as they eye a new wide forward in the closing stages of the window.
Roy Hodgson is said to be keen on Cornet, who can provide cover to Palace’s team as a forward or a wing-back as they look to push towards the top half of the table.
Let him go
Cornet has featured just twice for Moyes’ team in the Premier League so far this season, and although he scored in his only league start against Sheffield United, he still appears to be surplus to requirements.
If West Ham can sign another forward before the transfer deadline as is their aim, Cornet will be pushed even further down the pecking order, despite the possibility that Said Benrahma also leaves the London Stadium in the next 48 hours.
A six-month loan deal would make sense, as if he performs well for Palace they may wish to sign him permanently, meaning the Hammers would be able to hike his price up after it has plummeted since his £17.5million arrival in East London.

On the other side of that coin, a short-term deal would allow him to stake a claim to a role at the London Stadium once more if he impresses at Selhurst Park, making it a win-win situation for Moyes.
