Conor Coventry could feature for West Ham United in FA Cup before transfer to League One club
West Ham United could allow Conor Coventry to leave in the January transfer window with several League One clubs interested, according to Darren Witcoop.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (3 January), the newspaper journalist reports that the midfielder could yet feature for the Hammers in their FA Cup clash against Bristol City on Sunday.
But he would then be allowed to move on during the transfer window this month with a loan move mooted, although his contract is set to expire in the summer.
“West Ham midfielder Conor Coventry is being chased by a number of League One clubs,” he wrote.
“Could feature in the FA Cup at the weekend before moving on. Coventry already has made four loan moves in his career.”
Shame
There was a small period of time where a lot of fans inside the London Stadium wanted to see Coventry given a run in the first-team, with some expecting him to be the next one to make it off the conveyor belt of talent.
However with the club strengthening greatly in that position in recent transfer windows with the arrivals of James Ward-Prowse, Edson Alvarez and Lucas Paqueta to add to Tomas Soucek, he has fallen way down the pecking order.

He is now at an age where he needs to play to really develop as a footballer and go on to have a great career, and the likelihood is that will now be elsewhere in the English football pryramid.
A loan move makes no sense at this point for either club or player, so a permanent move would make far more sense in January and could allow the club to make some money from it too.
Him getting a goodbye against Bristol City will be nice, but ultimately he won’t be that missed after not making too much of an impact during his time here.
