Chinaza Nwosu exit update emerges at West Ham United as summer transfer approaches made
Several clubs have approached West Ham United to sign Chinaza Nwosu during the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer specialist reported via X on Thursday (4 July) that the Hammers are eager to keep the 16-year-old academy gem at the London Stadium, despite growing interest in his signature in the transfer window.
Julen Lopetegui’s side is insisting on keeping Nwosu at this moment time, but a number of clubs are understood to be keen on the teenager with direct approaches already made early in the summer window.
Are West Ham United close to any new transfers in the summer window?
While new signings are what get fans excited during the summer transfer window, clubs keeping their best talents amid interest from Premier League rivals is just as important in both the short and long term.
Nwosu may not be having an impact in Lopetegui’s first team at this moment in time, but the teenager is an incredibly exciting young talent and it would be a massive blow if West Ham were to lose him before he even makes an impact on the senior stage.
There is a lack of academy representation in the Hammers’ first team at this moment in time following the exits of Divin Mubama and Ben Johnson, which is a great shame when you consider the success the academy have had in recent years.
Hopefully, over the next few seasons, a few more young players will be able to break into the first-team fold so that the core of the Irons’ side remains homegrown.
While it isn’t the most important thing in the world, it is nice for supporters to have a few of their own to get behind in the first team.
Whether or not the Hammers will be able to continue to beat off the interest in Nwosu this summer remains to be seen, but they appear to be committed to keeping him at the London Stadium.
