Chelsea transfer news as West Ham United may offer Ian Maatsen better terms for move
West Ham United may be set to offer Ian Maatsen matched or better terms than Chelsea to secure his services this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Simon Jones reported the Irons’ position on Monday (28 August) saying that the 21-year-old left-back has been offered a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge but remains unsure over the validity of the deal and whether or not he should sign it.
David Moyes’ side are interested in signing the Dutchman alongside Burnley and Borussia Dortmund and all three clubs are likely to offer a deal that is at least on similar terms to the contract offered by Chelsea, if not better.

Whether or not Maatsen decides to stay at Stamford Bridge could have a big effect on the Blues’ business for the remainder of the transfer window as Chelsea will only allow Marc Cucurella to leave this summer if they believe they have enough options on the left side of defence.
Special player
Moyes has done exceptionally well this summer in terms of breathing new life into his West Ham team after they lost possibly their most crucial player Declan Rice and a move for Maatsen would only improve the Hammers further.
The 21-year-old is an incredibly attacking option from defence, possessing an incredible dribbling ability and excellent final ball into the area, which saw him manage to register 10 goal contributions for Burnley last season as they won the Championship.
For the Hammers to have that level of creativity from defence alongside the technical skills of James Ward-Prowse and Lucas Paqueta could see them become a genuine force in Europe as well as the Premier League, not to mention the addition of Mohammed Kudus.

So far it feels as though Moyes and those above him couldn’t have invested the Declan Rice money better if they had tried and Maatsen would represent the cherry on that incredibly well-crafted cake. He also fits Tim Steidten’s approach of wanting to buy younger players this summer.
Hopefully, the Hammers can fight off the interest from Chelsea, Dortmund and Burnley and get their man.
