Charlie Cresswell update emerges live on Sky Sports as West Ham green light exit
West Ham United are pushing to sign Charlie Cresswell on deadline day.
West Ham have had a disastrous summer on and off the pitch, with pressure building on Graham Potter after a poor start to the season.
However, West Ham’s emphatic 3-0 victory at Nottingham Forest has brought newfound optimism to the Hammers, as they now look to finish the summer on a high note with a number of deals.
One of those deals for West Ham is a move for Toulouse centre-back Charlie Cresswell, who has been linked with a move back to England with multiple clubs after a successful spell in the south of France.
The young England star could be a replacement signing, with an exit now lined up.

Nayef Aguerd set for medical at Marseille with Charlie Cresswell as his replacement
Nayef Aguerd is set to leave West Ham after a disastrous spell in East London.
Aguerd is set to move to Marseille for £19.9million, which can be considered great business considering how bad the Moroccan was at the London Stadium since arriving in 2022 under David Moyes.
Sky Sports’ Julia Stuart shared live on air that Aguerd has been permitted to undergo a medical with the French giants to complete the move before the deadline tonight.
Stuart has reported that Cresswell is being considered as a replacement for Aguerd, with a figure of £13m likely to be the amount required to complete the deal.
Cresswell is a major upgrade on Aguerd
West Ham made a huge mistake signing Aguerd in 2022, as he proved to be a complete disaster in East London.
In truth, his style of play never suited David Moyes’ tactical set-up, and he quickly fell out of favour before leaving on loan to Real Sociedad, where he failed to impress again.
Nayef Aguerd defensive stats (last 365 days) | Total |
Tackles per 90 | 1.37 |
Interceptions per 90 | 0.73 |
Blocks per 90 | 1.21 |
Cresswell is a special talent and will likely only improve as he looks to help tighten up a leaky Hammers backline, which has conceded 11 goals over the first four games.
With Leeds letting him move to France for peanuts, West Ham could make them really regret that one.
