Celtic respond as West Ham ready offer for another new transfer

West Ham are set to return with an improved offer for Celtic forward Daniel Cummings, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster reports in its live blog (3 February, 07:53) that the Hammers’ opening bid for the 18-year-old was rejected by the Scottish club and they are considering another bid.

The Irons have agreed terms with the Scottish star on a pre-contract for the summer but submitted a £500,000 offer on 2 February to bring it forward.

He made his senior debut for Brendan Rodgers’ side in the 4-2 Champions League loss to Aston Villa on Wednesday (29 January)

West Ham set for double striker swoop?

The Irons are set to wrap up a loan deal for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson before the 3 February transfer deadline.

They may yet add another forward if a move for Cummings materialises before the window slams shut at 11 pm.

The young striker has 24 goals in 26 matches in the Glasgow side’s youth ranks this campaign but would be one for the future.

Graham Potter is known for giving young players a chance and his recruitment team regularly unearthed young gems at Brighton, that looks like it is beginning to pay off for the East London club.

There is no problem with looking ahead as long as the Hammers secure an experienced forward like Ferguson as well to cope with the absences of Niclas Fullkrug, Jarrod Bowen, and Michail Antonio.

It remains to be seen if the London Stadium outfit can strike a deal before the deadline passes but this move should give supporters excitement about Potter’s reign.

In other West Ham news, the club have reportedly made a £35m proposal for a summer striker signing.
