BBC chief shares inside word out of West Ham on Bowen exit – ‘Interesting’

Jarrod Bowen’s future has once again become a major topic of discussion at West Ham United ahead of the summer transfer window.

West Ham have had a nightmare of a season this time, with the decision to replace Julen Lopetegui with Graham Potter in January not having the desired impact.

However, Bowen has remained a shining light for the East London outfit, bagging 12 goals and nine assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.

The England international added another goal to his tally, as the Irons earned a deserved 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday (11 May).

Simon Stone shares Bowen transfer update

Watching the game between Manchester United and West Ham live, Simon Stone was impressed by Bowen’s contributions to Potter’s side.

The BBC Sport chief football reporter described the England international as ‘fabulous’ and heaped praise on him for his goalscoring ability.

He went on to shed light on Bowen’s future at the London Stadium, revealing that West Ham are adamant they will not listen to offers for the attacker.

However, Stone mooted the possibility of a top club making a ‘big’ move for the 28-year-old, which could potentially force the Hammers’ hand.

“The word out of West Ham has been [that] they will not entertain offers for Jarrod Bowen”, Stone wrote on BBC‘s live blog (11 May, 3:34 pm).

“It will be interesting to see if someone comes in big for him. He is a fabulous player, sets a real example and has an eye for goal.”

West Ham could cash in on Bowen

West Ham are under no pressure to sell Bowen, as he is contracted to the East London outfit until 2030 after putting pen to paper on a fresh deal in 2023.

With the left-footer also set to turn 29 years old this year, he may not be an attractive target for some of the biggest teams in Europe as well.

However, the Irons could still be tempted to cash in on the former Hull City star to raise funds for new signings this summer.

West Ham face some financial constraints after spending over £120million last year and may need to sell players to facilitate new signings.

With Bowen being one of their most sellable assets, it would not be a surprise if David Sullivan sanctioned an exit for him.
