Axel Disasi’s whereabouts revealed as West Ham wait on last-ditch signing

West Ham are edging closer to the signing of Axel Disasi.

After Igor Julio returned to Brighton, there was a gap left in the squad at the London Stadium that needed filling.

The Hammers are in desperate need of a centre-back and look to have finally gotten hold of one at the last second.

Disasi hasn’t played a single game for Chelsea this season, but remained keen on a move to AC Milan, but that never materialised.

It now looks as if Disasi is ready to join West Ham with his medical now underway ahead of a deadline day switch at the London Stadium.

Axel Disasi begins medical ahead of West Ham move

Disasi represents a useful signing for the Irons given his vast amounts of experience throughout his career.

The defender most recently featured for Aston Villa where his loan spell came to an end after six months as a fringe player under Unai Emery.

His minutes are likely to increase under Nuno Espirito Santo, with a move to East London now edging ever closer.

Ex-WHUEmployee reported on Monday that Disasi is currently undergoing his medical in a local hospital ahead of his last-gasp transfer.

Once complete, the former France international will then undergo media duties ahead of his transfer being confirmed by the Hammers.

Disasi to leave Chelsea in £1.7m loan move

There have been few opportunities for the centre-half to prove his quality at Stamford Bridge, so a move makes sense for all parties.

A switch to West Ham certainly benefits the claret and blue outfit, but questions have been raised over the structure of a deal.

Those queries appear to have been answered as Fabrice Hawkins reported on Monday that Disasi will join the Irons on loan from Chelsea.

Nuno and Co. will pay a £1.7m loan fee for the 27-year-old and will have his services to utilise until the end of the season.

The London Stadium faithful will now play a waiting game as they look ahead to this deal being announced by the Hammers on deadline day.
