Aston Villa have change of heart on Jhon Duran asking price as West Ham United in talks
Aston Villa are ready to consider offers below £40million for West Ham target Jhon Duran as long as the bids include significant add-ons, according to HITC.
The website reported on Wednesday (July 17) that Duran wants to leave this summer, and Villa seem to be on the same page.
Chelsea and West Ham are both in talks with Villa about a potential deal, the report said.
This comes despite transfer expert Fabrizio Romano previously insisting [Daily Briefing, July 17] that Villa wouldn’t accept less than £40million for Duran.
HITC also reported that neither the Hammers nor Chelsea have yet submitted an official offer for Duran this summer as they know Villa’s asking price is above their own valuation of the player.
Jhon Duran’s future still undecided with West Ham interested
The Duran transfer saga is still dragging on, and West Ham are still in the mix, which is somewhat surprising.
Even though Danny Ings looks ready for the new season, Julen Lopetegui wants a new striker before the end of July. Ings hasn’t impressed much with just four goals in 52 games, but he’s staying put for now.
Duran hasn’t always had the opportunity to shine at Aston Villa either, scoring only eight times in 49 matches, albeit he has largely played second fiddle to Ollie Watkins.

But, aged only 20, there is no doubt that Duran has a lot of potential and if he were to be made the main man at the London Stadium he might end up flourishing in a Claret and Blue shirt.
Only time will tell what happens with the London Stadium outlet having to battle with a few other clubs that are interested in Duran’s services.
