Aston Villa cool interest in West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek – report

Aston Villa are not interested in making a move for West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek in the ongoing transfer window, according to the Express and Star.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium this summer after his contract discussions came to a halt.

However, as per the latest report, manager Steven Gerrard is happy with the options in midfield after the signing of Boubacar Kamara and therefore, has decided to cool the apparent interest in Soucek.

West Ham

The Czech Republic international, who has a contract with his current club till the summer of 2024, is valued at around £40.50 million by Transfermarkt.

Sigh of relief

The development will be a pleasing one for the West Ham fans as losing a player of Soucek’s quality could be a serious dent for the club going into the next season, especially after the departure of Mark Noble who retired at the end of the last season.

The fans will be hoping that the recent development will pave way for new contract discussions to resume which would ensure that the 27-year-old will stay at the London Stadium for more years to come.

West Ham

Soucek has been a West Ham player ever since moving there from Slavia Prague in a deal worth £14.58 million in the summer of 2020.

Since then, he has represented the Hammers in 102 matches across all competitions where he has managed to score 18 goals and provided two assists.

In the previous campaign, Soucek represented the Irons in 49 matches across all competitions, scoring six times and providing a solitary assist [Transfermarkt].
