Arsenal want to sign West Ham ace Declan Rice in next 24 hours as US tour deadline looms

Arsenal want to complete the signing of West Ham ace Declan Rice in the next 24 hours so he can join them on their pre-season tour of the United States, according to the Evening Standard.

Simon Collings wrote in the Standard that Rice is back in the United Kingdom following a break in Portugal and is ready to complete the paperwork ahead of a £105million transfer.

The clubs had already agreed on the structure of the deal, but West Ham were reportedly growing frustrated by the hold up in getting the transfer closed.

However, the Gunners are urgently attempting to get things wrapped up so that Rice can join up with Arsenal’s squad when they fly out on Sunday to continue their pre-season preparations.

Time to get it done

The deal to get the Declan Rice deal has been a saga.

At first it was your bog-standard transfer saga. Where would Rice go? Arsenal? Manchester City? Bayern Munich?

Well, we have all known for some time now that it was the Gunners who would win the battle, but then it has been a saga getting the Is dotted and the Ts crossed.

The hold up has seemingly been at Arsenal’s end, which has not helped West Ham at all in their own business in the transfer window.

David Moyes will want probably two midfielders and maybe a forward depending on how the situation with Gianluca Scamacca works out – but they need the sale of Rice ratified before they can progress with their business.

So, come on…crack on, get a shift on! It’s time to get it done and let all parties – West Ham, Arsenal, and Rice – move on with their lives.
