Arsenal transfer news as windfall due if West Ham United sign Konstantinos Mavropanos
Arsenal will be due a transfer windfall if West Ham sign their former defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, due to a sell-on clause in his contract when he joined Stuttgart, according to talkSPORT.
The digital news outlet shared on 16 August that Arsenal will be due 10% of the transfer fee from this deal should it go through, despite the Greek centre-back only making eight appearances for the Gunners before a £4.5million move to Stuttgart in 2022.
West Ham’s interest in Mavropanos comes after a £30million deal for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire broke down after growing frustrated with how long it was taking to complete, despite terms being agreed.

One of a number of options being explored
While the sell-on fee Arsenal have is unlikely to play any part in West Ham’s decision-making when it comes to their centre-back targets, they will still consider all of the available options before making a move.
The Hammers have been linked with a new defender throughout this summer’s transfer window as they look to add further depth to their backline, and will now be forced to explore their options after the deal for priority target Maguire broke down.
At 25 years old, Mavropanos may feel he still has something to prove in England after his time at The Emirates was cut short and has improved with further experience since his time in North London.

West Ham’s presence in the Europa League could also be a deciding factor, with the promise of game time almost guaranteed with quad rotation completely necessary to compete in all four competitions.
Other options include the more experienced German international defender Jonathan Tah [Claret & Hugh, 15 August], who the Hammers have been linked to for months, and who would provide more of a sure thing at the London Stadium.
In other West Ham news, the club are ‘pushing hard’ to hijack a £40m+ deal.
