Andre Silva signing: RB Leipzig striker wants West Ham deal – ExWHUEmployee

West Ham United could have a transfer breakthrough on their hands as Andre Silva is keen to join, according to ExWHUemployee.

The insider news outlet revealed via the West Ham Way website (17 January) the latest on the Hammers’ vital pursuit of a striker, with Silva, 29, reportedly eager to become a part of Graham Potter’s squad – though Potter himself could be hesitant (Hammers.News, 15 January).

Silva has scored 27 goals in 109 games for current club RB Leipzig, and shares the same agency – ROC Nation Sports – as Irons star Lucas Paqueta.

The London Stadium insider revealed: “One forward who is definitely available and wants to join, and could be sorted quite quickly is that of Andre Silva. The Portuguese international is extremely experienced having played in two World Cups, one European Championship and having played in Portugal, Spain, Italy and Germany.

“He is said to want to play in England now. Whilst this transfer is clearly a gamble and we haven’t got a good track record of foreign forward signings, with it only being a loan deal with an option to buy, it could be a gamble worth trying.

“Silva is 29 so age isn’t on his side, but the club have expressed a desire to bring in a couple of younger forwards in the summer.”

West Ham advance on chase for Andre Silva

West Ham are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements in the current transfer window, with Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug both ruled out long-term, and Jarrod Bowen approaching the latter stages of his own injury absence.

Silva may not be prolific, but is an experienced international striker with the nous required for the Premier League.

The Portugal man has 19 goals in 53 caps, and spent last season on loan with Real Sociedad. His contact with Paqueta through the same agency could also benefit the Hammers – ROC also represent Vinicius Junior, Kevin de Bruyne and Gabriel Martinelli among others.

Tim Steidten is once again leading the recruitment mission and knows the pressure associated with getting this signing spot on – an even more arduous task after some of his summer signings have failed to produce thus far, and his choice of head coach Julen Lopetegui lasted just 22 games in charge.

As a result, West Ham have their eggs in the baskets of several strikers including Taiwo Awoniyi, Evan Ferguson and Evann Guessand, but Silva’s suggested open desire to join could be the deciding factor in sealing the deal as early as possible.
