Agbonlahor: Abraham will want to quit Chelsea amid West Ham and Aston Villa interest
Gabriel Agbonlahor claims West Ham and Aston Villa are among the “takers” for Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.
Abraham, 23, has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge since Thomas Tuchel came in to replace Frank Lampard earlier this season.
However, the England international has still scored 12 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions this season.
Sky Sports pundit Agbonlahor claims Tuchel will want to sell Abraham in the summer transfer window and that the striker will have plenty of clubs wanting to sign him, including West Ham and Aston Villa.
“I think the manager’s made it quite clear in leaving him out that he doesn’t fancy him so he’ll want him to leave,” said Agbonlahor on Sky Sports News, as shared by Football Daily.
“As a player, he’s a player who looks like he wants to play football, play the number nine role and be the main striker at a club so he should want to leave for himself.
“There’ll be many takers – West Ham, Aston Villa – so many takers where he can go and start Premier League [matches].”
Clinical
Abraham is a proven striker in the Premier League.
He’s scored 26 times in 89 top-flight appearances in England and has also shown his worth in Europe and for England in recent seasons.
The former Aston Villa and Swansea striker would be a superb signing for the Hammers but can the London club afford him?
David Moyes has admitted that Chelsea’s £40million valuation of the centre-forward is beyond the realms of West Ham’s transfer budget for the summer [Sky Sports].
That’s massively disappointing because he’s easily the best striker we’ve been linked with ahead of the transfer window reopening.
Moyes cannot go into next season without signing a new striker in the summer – whether it’s one to play as back-up to Michail Antonio or compete with him for a starting spot.
Sebastien Haller was sold in January and not replaced and that has caused some issues since.
Abraham would be a perfect addition but do we see it happening?
For that price? Perhaps not.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are keen to sign this “underrated” striker who scored four goals in one game earlier this season.
