£5m Saudi twist emerges as West Ham United eye Luis Guilherme transfer
Saudi Arabian clubs are making a big push to sign Luis Guilherme ahead of West Ham, according to Ben Jacobs.
The CBS Sports and Give Me Sport journalist claimed on 3 June that a £5million plus base bonuses package has been discussed in the Middle East.
The Hammers are keen on signing the 18-year-old Palmeiras forward, but the move appears to be in jeopardy.
Jacobs wrote on Twitter: “West Ham’s deal for Palmeiras’ Luis Guilherme is in some doubt.
“There is genuine Saudi interest, although nothing yet formal. A £5m-base plus bonuses package has been discussed. Unclear yet if anything will develop further.
“But a big push being made in Brazil by Saudi Pro.”
West Ham must move on from Luis Guilherme transfer pursuit
The Hammers must move on from their pursuit of Guilherme due to the significant financial power of Saudi Arabian clubs.
Despite the London club’s interest in the 18-year-old Palmeiras forward, the financial terms being offered by Saudi Arabian clubs, such as a £5 million base plus bonuses package, are likely beyond what West Ham can realistically match.
This financial muscle from Saudi Arabian clubs, combined with their aggressive push to sign the Brazilian, puts the Hammers at a distinct disadvantage in the race for his signature.
Furthermore, the uncertainty surrounding Guilherme’s decision, with the potential for him to choose a move to the Saudi Pro League over the Premier League, indicates that Tim Steidten’s efforts to secure him may be in vain.
Given these factors, it would be prudent for the Hammers to refocus their transfer efforts on targets that are more attainable within their financial constraints.
In other West Ham news, an update has emerged on the club’s pursuit to sign a striker who scored 33 goals in 2023/24.
