West Ham have reportedly made an enquiry into the availability of striker Breel Embolo.

Per a report in 90Min, the Hammers are keen on signing a striker this summer and have identified the Swiss international as a transfer target.

The striker enjoyed a good Euro 2020 with his country and he could be on his way out of Borussia Monchengladbach this summer, given the interest in his services.

The 24-year-old is capable of leading the line as well as playing as a wide forward – adding versatility in the final third for the Hammers should he sign.

He’s also not a regular starter at his club side so he could fancy a move away from Germany.

Hammers fans on Facebook were mostly excited by the links and would take the player at the club.

However, they did make an important point about his injury record.

Here’s what they said:

Should aim higher

Embolo is still 24 so has some way to go before he hits his peak but we should be looking for better options. He struggles to get into Monchengladbach’s starting eleven – having made 16 starts and 15 appearances off the bench last season.

His goal-scoring record isn’t particularly great either as he bagged only five league goals all campaign.

What we need is a proven striker who’s got the track record of consistently putting the ball into the back of the net.

A 20-goal-a-season forward should ideally be what David Moyes would want at the London Stadium and we think Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham fits the bill perfectly for us.

He has stylistic similarities with Embolo, but is proven in the Premier League and is also a year younger than him.
