This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Ham Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around the London Stadium.

Sebastien Haller’s short and miserable spell at West Ham came to an end on Friday when Ajax announced the striker’s arrival in Amsterdam.

Ajax’s official website confirms that the Irons have netted €22.5million (£20.2million) from Haller’s sale and the Evening Standard reports that David Moyes has been promised he can use that money to reinvest in the squad this month.

Haller, 26, scored 14 times in 53 appearances across all competitions in his season-and-a-half at West Ham and while he provided fans with some magical goals this term in the Premier League, he’s ultimately failed to live up to the £45million price-tag that was placed on his head in 2019 when he became the Irons’ club-record signing.

Despite the club taking such a heavy hit on their most-expensive signing, our panel of West Ham Super Fans have admitted that cutting their losses on Haller makes sense.

Michail Antonio has emerged as West Ham’s number one striker during David Moyes’ second reign in charge in East London and Haller’s sale means that there’s now money available to not only buy a replacement but to also strengthen other areas of the squad.

Clearly, the Hammers need to replace Haller with another striker but you would imagine that they can bring someone decent in and have plenty left in the bank to strengthen other areas of the squad, like at left-back.

Moyes made good signings in 2019 by bringing Tomas Soucek, Jarrod Bowen, Vladimir Coufal and Said Benrahma to the club.

Let’s hope he can use this money wisely and sign someone who’ll be able to shine a lot more at the London Stadium than Haller ever did.

In other West Ham news, Frank McAvennie has urged Moyes to name a strong starting line-up in the FA Cup against Stockport.
